I knew Lee since we attended Capt. Raymond Collins Elem. School in Long Beach.  Lee lived in Lakewood (The Lakewood Gardens), one street seperated the boundry of the two cities.  Bob, his older brother, was friends with my brother Gary, two grades ahead of us.

Lee was a fantastic athelete in our youth.  Look at the picture of him running the third leg of the 440yd relay team.  He was only in 8th grade (on the 9th grade team) and he has muscles of an adult.  Being as strong as he was, he was not a bully, but someone who stood up for others.  I attended a couple of his birtday parties in elementary school.

One of the stories from our youth;  A group of us PHS boys decided to miss school (a polite way of saying we "ditched") in order to go to Big Bear.  Gary Buice and I went with Lee.  He drove his blue "55" Ford.  We got lost as to where we were suppose to meet the other guys and wound up in going up towards Arrowhead.  It was Winter and there was a lot of snow in the mountains.  We made the best of it and had a good time playing in the snow.  On the way down the mountain road, the road was narrow and on a clift.  Then we got into fog.  It was scarry, but Lee was cool and drove slowly and cautiously.  The next day, our story was the best of the group.

Lee was one of the "Good Guys".  God Bless his soul, God Bless those who he loved and those who loved him.
