It is with deep regret that we announce the death of our Board Member, Ms. Linda Garcia, who passed away Saturday, November 27th. Ms. Garcia was in the company of her family. She had battled a pulmonary illness for some time.
Linda, as she preferred to be called, was elected to the Paramount Board of Education in 1999 and was passionately dedicated to the service of our students, staff, and families. She cared deeply about our school district and was the type of community leader who made an impression on everyone she met. During her 22 years as a Board member, she served as President four times.
Linda was a native of Paramount. She was active in both the community and her church and served as PTA Secretary for the Los Angeles Archdiocese from 1992-94.
Linda knew that every child could learn and was supportive of programs that promote opportunities for all children to be successful learners.
Linda is survived by her three children and four grandchildren.
